California housing legislation 2018

Housing-related legislation in the 2018-2019 California legislature. 

This is an evolving list because
a) bills may be introduced until February 19 (?)
b) it is possible for effectively new bills to be introduced later, by bill sponsors repurposing previously filed bills kept in reserve for this purpose.
c) ballot initiatives may be filed until ?.

  • SB831 facilitating Accessory Dwellings 
     
  • AB686 Affirmative Furthering Fair Housing
     
  • AB1506 Costa-Hawkins Repeal [did not advance from Housing Committee hearing in January]
     
  • Assemblyman David Chiu - planned bill for state low-income housing funding (likely through state LIHTC)
     
  • Sen. Toni Atkins - ballot measure for a $4 billion general obligation bond in November.

filed by Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Assocation, supported by California Association of Realtors. Would extend #Prop13 tax assessment limit portability for homeowners over 55 who move anywhere within state.
