Wapato facility

From HousingWiki

The Wapato facility in Portland (also known Wapato Corrections Facility, Wapato Detention Facility, and colloquially Wapato Jail) is a Multnomah County (Portland, Oregon area) unused jail facility, constructed in 2003 in the far corner of North Portland, near confluence of Columbia and Willamette rivers and near Smith and Bybee Wetlands Natural Area.

The jail was funded in 1996 by a bond measure defined by Multnomah County Commissioners Resolution 96-122. Budget limitations prevented the county from opening the facility and it has never housed an inmate, getting only incidental use such as for movie shoots. In 2018 a hearing the property was sold to Kehoe for $5 million. As of April 17, 2019 the property is owned by developer Jordan Schnitzer.

Facility address: 14355 N Bybee Lake Ct, Portland, OR 97203
