Of particular irritation within the city’s letter is that they claim “there is no data to support a correlation between homelessness, shelters, and crime.” Yet they site no studies to defend this statement, which runs contradictory to many people’s lived experience. We would love to see someone do such a study, which the city/county state that they won’t do because it would take money away from serving the homeless population.
